SEO Course: Why Search Engine Optimization is Important?
SEO Training June 16th, 2008
So, here we are starting the SEO course. I was getting so many requests in the past to put together something like this. Because of my tight work schedules and trademarked laziness, I could never do one yet. Later I figured out that answering numerous e-mails, IMs and phone calls will take more of my energy than putting together something like this. So, here we go…
I have started optimizing websites for search engines back in 2004. I was at a learning phase at that time. I have learned, tested and formulated different SEO techniques from then. But the most interesting thing about SEO is none of those techniques will always work. You need to keep it updated all the time. Unless, you will lose all your hard earned rankings on search engines.
But that doesn’t mean that you need to keep yourself away from SEO techniques. Why? There are many reasons for doing SEO for your website.
- Search engines are the way in which 90% of people locate the internet resources they need and Google has a 75% market share in Europe and North America. The Google brand is now rated as the most powerful in the world and, within three years, the company is expected to be the largest advertiser (by revenue) in the world.
- 84% of searchers never make it past the bottom of page two of Google and 65% of people never click on paid (or “sponsored”) results. Being at the top of the nonpaid (or “organic”) search results is a make-or-break mission for the modern business in a world ever more dominated by the internet.
- SEO can make the content of your web pages more relevant, more attractive, and more easily read by search engines and their crawling and indexing software.
- Search engine optimization is capable of providing you a strategic edge over your competitors, even before the visitor has seen your site. It has a positive psychological impact on a visitor. One accomplishes half of his task by pulling a visitor to his site. The other depends on how attractive is the site, and how good is the product.
- SEO enables you to compete efficiently against larger competitors. Search engines don’t rank you on the basis of your size. Optimize your site well; make up for your small size and smaller advertising budget.
- A search engine would promote your site round the clock. This facility can be availed only by those whose sites are optimized. Just submitting your site to search engines is not going to serve your purpose. Either you are always visible, or you never are. The option is yours.
Are these reasons good enough? Are you ready to optimize your website? If yes, do continue with this course. Comment on posts. If you have any questions, post them as well. I will be happy to answer your questions.
